Everyone in the moto-taxi This week was full of great experiences. It started with some sad news but ended on a high. One of the most difficult things on a mission is to see missionaries go home. It’s difficult for us because we know it is going to be difficult for the young missionary. They have all come on a mission expecting to stay the whole 1 and a half or two years. There have been a few missionaries who went home during the time we have been here, all of them for health reasons. This week one of the Hermanas in our area hurt her knee and after an MRI the doctors in Salt Lake decided it was going to take more than just a couple of weeks to heal so she needed to go home to El Salvador. She really wanted to stay. She tried to do everything possible to convince the Mission leaders that she was healing faster than expected. One of the friends they were teaching was a Physical Therapist. She worked on her knee and reduced the swelling a lot! The Hermana showed us how she’s all b...

Little Caesar and Little Hermana This week seemed to fly by. I’m late again at writing this report. We spent a little more time in the office than usual. It never gets old to see how excited people are when they find some of their ancestors that they had never seen before. The excitement never gets old but it happens every time. One of the meetings we helped with was the training for the missionaries who have been on their mission for 6 weeks and their companions and the training for those who have been on ...

Dressed for Halloween This was anything but a normal week. Come to think of it, I don't think there is such a thing as a normal week when you are on a mission. This week we had Halloween, transfers and Jesus baptizing Jesus. I'm pretty sure that if your name is Jesus you need to be a member of His Church. It seems to be happening at an accelerated pace in the Lima Peru North Mission. As we have said many times, most of those joining the church are young adult age. This past week one two of the Baptisms we went to were young adults named Jesus. One of those was baptized by a member whose name is Jesus. I used to think it was strange to name a child Jesus. I'm not so sure I think that anymore. I wonder if having that name creates a higher level of interest in seeking The Jesus, a desire to learn more of Him. I think it is working because many Jesus´ are learning more of Him through the missionaries. Halloween, we didn't know what to expect. It was wonderful. I'm not s...
