Transfers Again

The weather seems to be getting warmer! Yep, I just said that. There was a noticeable change this week. Hermana Borup didn’t need to wear a sweater, down coat, and long-sleeved wool shirt when we went out. Now they are telling us that it gets hot in the summer. We are going to believe them. They said it was cold in the winter and they were right. Who is they?

We have been serving in a Ward that has not had a Bishop for about 4 months. There is definitely a hole where a Bishop should be. Some of the everyday decisions that need to take place are delayed or absent. However, it is inspiring to see how many of the members of the Ward rally around each other and are willing to serve outside of the parameters of their callings. The members here are just generally inspiring. When we received our call we were worried about what we could do because we thought the members would be strong. We were right, they are strong. We find things to do but it’s not because the members aren’t doing their part.

In the list of things we did this week was sent out about 50 test messages to missionaries to remond them to take their language test. Then made 140 Google docs and shared them with 140 missionaries. The docs are a template for them to make a language study plan. We had transfers with 24 missionaries coming in and only 4 leaving. That is a lot of new missionaries! And we went to the Temple.\

Our favorite thing to do is visit new members. We have been working with several of them for several weeks now. We review the lessons found in “My Covenant Path” . We have great discussions on things like keeping the Sabbath Holy and how the Aaronic Priesthood blesses their lives. We had a family home evening this week where each of the 3 young boys prepared part of the lesson. These continue to be the highlight of the work. We have times when our appointments fall through and even times when the backup plans fall through but times with new converts make up fo the occasional fall-through.

This is coming out late this week and it’s late tonight so I will end it here. We love doing the work here. There is something magical about having the missionary plaque on our chests. We are trying our best to represent Christ how he wants and needs us to.

Until next time, Your friends

Hermana Y Elder Borup

We ran into Elder Valdez on our p-day. He is from Nizao in the Dominican Republic. We served there in our first Mission. He was in the Primary. He has been in Peru for 4 days!

The definition of utility.

We found out where buttons come from.

We went to a large market area in Lima called Gamarra. That suit is $65. I want it.
